03/12/21 in home newborn shoot

It was a cold and snowy day in Colorado Springs when I made the trek out to the home of Amy and Quinn. Feeling like a cozy day, it turned out to be a perfect day to visit and take pictures of this beautiful family of four. Joslyn was born on February 22nd and became their first daughter and little sister to their sweet boy, Charlie.

Instantly, I knew I would love this session as they welcomed me into their home with open arms and helped make me feel right at home. I spent some time with Charlie as he showed me around and introduced me to his animals in his room. I could tell he would make one extraordinary older brother to Jo. Mom and baby Joslyn were ready for their debut and I got a chance to get to know Amy, and what an amazing lady she is. You can tell that she is meant to be a mother!

I absolutely LOVE taking pictures of moms with their children. The strong bond is undeniable, and the intensity of the love is what I love capturing the most. There is one specific photo in this whole series that melts me every time I look at it. It is motherhood pure and simple. To be a mother is to be strong and warm and kind and selfless and patient and confident and understanding and yet still remain who you are. That sounds nearly impossible, and sometimes as a mother it feels nearly impossible, but at the end of the day you are the rock to your children. As moms, we are all doing the best that we can each and every day.

Even though the majority of my family photography and newborn photography is outdoors, I love the beauty and lighting that you can find right in your very own home. Thank you, Amy, Quinn, Charlie, and Joslyn for inviting me into your home and allowing me to be a part of your lovely family even if for just a little bit. I hope to see you all again!
