01/31/20 Laansma family shoot at Twin Lakes, Colorado

If any of you know me well enough, you know that I have a thing for the mountains… just like any passionate relationship, it’s grown over the years and my experiences in the alpine have only made me fall deeper in love. I simply can’t get enough, and I’m pretty sure I am going to come back as pica, bighorn sheep, or some of those hardy little high alpine fish that I’m always trying to catch!
Now that I realize how I want to steer my photography business – more towards adventure and certainly more towards the mountains, I was fortunate to have the pleasure of photographing an incredible family who I met this past fall. The Laansma family just simply makes me happy to be around. I tell Nikki I have no idea how she handles her three boys (yes, THREE) so gracefully. She is an amazing mom and wife, and now that I’ve become friends with her since our shoots… she is a darn good friend too. Dean is also one incredible human – top notch in the air force and such an inspiring Super Dad and amazing husband. The boys are fantastic. They each have their own personalities, and when the three of them are together, it’s the most pleasant bunch of boy energy I could hope for.
So, OF COURSE, I convinced this amazing family to head to the mountains with me! I took them to Twin Lakes and I can say that it wasn’t a disappointment. We lucked out that in the middle of winter and nailed a 40 degree day and a most amazing sunset. Thank you Nikki and Dean for the wonderful adventure together!
I am already so excited to get back there to shoot another session – who is in??
